Affiliate Marketing Programs (Aside From Amazon)

July 15, 2021 § Leave a comment

I know I’ve talked about Amazon Affiliates here before — it’s a program I’ve used for 10 years — but there are so many other affiliate programs out there if you’re interested.

What is affiliate marketing?

Basically, affiliate marketing is when you — or another blogger/influencer/brand — mentions a product or a service, and if/when someone purchases it, the blogger gets a small percentage of the sale at no cost to the buyer.

It’s how many bloggers make income.

So, I did a little digging to find affiliate marketing programs that you might be interested in — head to Patreon to get the list!

Tutorial: Amazon Associates

August 28, 2020 § Leave a comment

In the tutorial for this month, I’m sharing the inside of the Amazon Associates platform. This is Amazon’s answer for affiliate marketing, which allows bloggers to make money based on links they place on their blogs.

I’ll show you how it works, talk about earnings, and other ways you can make money using Amazon Associates.

It’s a free program, so why not?

Let’s do this!

If you have ideas for other tutorials you’d like to see, just let me know.

A WordAds Tutorial

July 29, 2020 § Leave a comment

Since I shared a text post last week about WordAds, I thought it would be helpful t have an accompanying visual.

So, in this screen recording, I’m showing you where the WordAds control panel is located and talking a little bit about the settings. I’ll also show you the earnings dashboard and talk some about how much money you can expect to make from WordAds.

Finally, we’ll look at the WordAds on my blog so you can see what they look like!

I hope this is helpful.

As usual, please let me know if you have any tutorials you’d like me to do 🙂

Head over to Patreon to see the screen-recorded tutorial.

If you’re using WordPress as your blogging platform, you may have seen something about WordAds.

I started using WordAds on my blog a few years ago so I could speak about them in my course, and I’m going to share what I know about them on Patreon.

Head there to see how WordAds work and how much I’ve made using them… hope to see you there!

Seeking Love. Finding Overalls.

You might be sick of hearing me gush over Leandra Medine, but she recently turned her blog, “Man Repeller” into a book of essays, “Man Repeller: Seeking Love. Finding Overalls.”

I finished reading it this week and it was so good I had to share!

Aside from just enjoying her witty way of telling stories in general, I enjoyed actually reading the story of how her blog came about:

Blaming my clothes for failed romantic endeavors would be so much easier. i loved the clothes far too much to be as hard on them as I had previously been on myself. After a moment of reflection, I realized that I had always concerned myself more with looking “cool” than with looking “good.” Attractive clothes of the conventional variety such as simple black dresses, skinny jeans, shapely blouses, and short skirts never really stroked my lady boner the way interesting shapes—a dress that looks like a triangle, pants that in their previous life could have belonged to Jared from the Subway commercials—and outrageous colors did. I realized quickly quite how liberating my attraction to the latter was. Why hadn’t it dawned on me earlier? I was a man repeller. It was so obvious!

“Let’s turn this into a blog,” I said to Rachel.

…”The Man Repeller,” I said. “It’s fucking genius!”

Blog books for 2014.

While I would love to sit and hope that this blog serves as a guide for your blog, I know I don’t have all the knowledge you might need (but I’m going to try!).

However, there are some great, helpful books on blogging for 2014:

Frankosky has 5 years of experience in SEO, affiliate marketing, and blogging to share in his Kindle book on blogging. Buy this book if you’re looking to build traffic, promote your blog, and earn a little money.

This is the latest (it doesn’t publish until February) edition in the most popular resource for web designers and developers in the WordPress world. Use this book to maximize the power of your WordPress platform.

While this is not a textbook, it’s a pretty cool planner created by blogger Nick Thacker, to help bloggers/writers/creatives, to help productivity! Pretty cool!

I know it’s self-serving, but I can’t not put my own book on here. These are 51 tips that I live and breathe—they’ve worked for me, and I know they can work for you! I am working on the second edition of this book and hope to have it out later this year.

2Checkout.com

December 30, 2013 § Leave a comment

If you’re looking for ways to add payment options to your blog (aside from PayPal), it might be worth your while to take a look at 2Checkout.com.

This form of online payment has several benefits:

  • It’s free to use
  • Allows global payments
  • Simple checkout experience
  • Recurring billing
  • Accepts PayPal, credit cards, debit cards
  • Superior fraud protection

So, how does it work? According to their website:

2Checkout.com works by allowing sellers to accept online payment for their goods and services. After you are approved, integrate your website with 2Checkout using either our free Plug and Play cart or a shopping cart of your choice. Your customers will order on your site, and then pay within 2Checkout’s secure PCI compliant payment page. When the order is completed successfully, we will send the customer an order confirmation and then send them back to your website.

What do you think? Would a payment processing option such as this work for your blog?
